Chainlink fencing is still used as ball stop fencing as it is relatively inexpensive and is particularly well suited to certain applications such as tennis courts because it doesn't need to have any rebound qualities. The determining factor for the use of chainlink fencing is that the size of the fence must be smaller than the size of the ball it is supposed to stop.
